Worthing Dads at this year's Worthing Playday

Wednesday next week, 1st August, sees Worthing's 4th annual Playday - a national initiative providing a day of free activities for children. Over 5,000 people attended last year and I'm hoping it will be another great day, especially if the weather stays like this.

This year there is a penalty shoot out, water slide, messy play, foam play, face painting, art and craft area, den building, Car Wrecks, Climbing wall, Bouncy Castle, Human Football & Worthing Thunder and Worthing Leisure Centre. Also included is the Entertainment Square with Dave Benson Phillips, KC Street Dance, Worthing Panthers, Worthing Kung Fu & Beefit & the Splash FM Team.

A group of us will be there on the day from 10am enjoying the activities with the children. If you would like to come along too or want to just say hi and find out more about what we get up to, drop us a line. The event lasts to 3pm and we should be there for the day - depending on who gets worn out first.

MP meets Worthing Dads

Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing & Shoreham and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families recently visited Worthing Dads and praised our great work. Tim commented "great to visit a children's centre full of dads for a change and it happens to be in my constituency - let's have more".

PYO Strawberries: the perfect way to sweeten the football result

With the fantastic sunshine, yesterday's exploring took Worthing Dads to Roundstone Farm PYO. The children had a great time taking the freshly picket strawberries from the basket, chomping a bit and then returning to the basket for a new strawberry.

An afternoon spent in the strawberry fields left us with a full basket, full stomach and the dads a much needed cool beer while watching the England game. With such a disappointing performance from the team last night and a sour taste left in our mouths the sweet strawberries were the only thing to lift our spirits. Lets hope we don't need more for Wednesday's game!
